100g Hand Dyed Shetland Yarn 4ply

100g Hand Dyed 100% Shetland Yarn woollen spun 4ply. The yarn base is from Jamieson & Smith. Beautiful purples & violets.

Shetland yarn is sheared from the sheep on the islands that roam quite freely feeding on natural heathers and seaweed on the beaches. Rustic in nature both the climate and the diet of the flocks produces a wool that is warm and strong.

Shetland yarn can sometimes feel a little coarse compared to other yarn from sheep in warmer climates but after a few wears & careful washes it will begin to soften. 

This is a non-Superwash yarn and as such we highly recommend the use of a wool specific soap to wash gently in cool water, do not wash in a machine or felting of the yarn will occur.

We recommend the use of a skein winder/swift to hold your yarn at the correct tension whilst caking your skeins to avoid unnecessary tangles in the yarn.
