100% nsw Shetland Mini Skein Sets

Hand dyed nsw 100% Shetland yarn now available as mini skein sets for use in your Fair Isle project! A woollen spun yarn but still a 4ply weight. At 110m per 20g skein its relatively economical too. Shetland yarn is sheared from the sheep on the islands that roam quite freely feeding on natural heathers and seaweed on the beaches. Rustic in nature both the climate and the diet of the flocks produces a wool that is warm and strong.

Shetland yarn can sometimes feel a little coarse compared to other yarn from sheep in warmer climates but after a few wears & careful washes it will begin to soften. 

This is a non-Superwash yarn and as such we highly recommend the use of a wool specific soap to wash gently in cool water, do not wash in a machine or felting of the yarn will occur.

We recommend the use of a skein winder/swift to hold your yarn at the correct tension whilst caking your skeins to avoid unnecessary tangles in the yarn.
