Baby Alpaca Chunky Blackberry
Baby Alpaca is one of my favourite fibres. Its 100% natural (and biodegradable) and it is one of the softest feeling yarns I carry, it's like butter in your hands and a sheer delight to knit. The fact it's from one of the first clippings of an Alpacas beautiful fleece gives it its super soft handle. Its naturally hypoallergenic for anyone looking for an alternative to wool too as it doesn't contain lanolin that sheeps wool does.
This skein weighs 100g and measures 100M approx in length. I have knitted a full length scarf (180cm x 20cm) using one skein of this yarn using 10mm needles. See my blog for the free pattern.
This yarn was sourced from South America and supports small farm holdings in the Peruvian Andes. Alpacas are raised for the fiber they produce.
I recommend the use of a skein winder to maintain the correct tension throughout the winding of your yarn, not doing so can result in tangles.
